Overview

Greentree Gun Club is a historic Green Tree Reservoir GTR located just northeast of Moro, Arkansas. It is comprised of 164.5 +/- surveyed acres, and is currently under development to increase the value of the property and create substantial improvements for wildlife management. As time goes on, more of Eastern Arkansas rich Mississippi alluvial forests are disappearing due to encroachment by modern agricultural practices by clearing property for good farmland. Fortunately this property has been saved from that fate. Forty years ago this land was an incredible hunting property, but due to the change of ownership, it has not been flooded with any regularity for waterfowl since. The last owners, having vast property holdings in the surrounding counties, and being members of the historic hunting club known as the Warrior Bottoms, never had a need to revitalize the aging levee infrastructure and commit to any wildlife development. All of that is changing, as Wellons Land is taking the lead in shoring up levee infrastructure, forestry mulching, and food plot management, taking this historic GTR back in time to create what it once was.

Surrounding Properties

One of the major flyways in Eastern Arkansas is Big Creek, located in between the White and Cache Rivers and the LAnguille River. Greentree Gun Club sits just 1.7 miles to the east of Big Creek within eyesight of the tree line. To the north on Big Creek sits Big Creek Waterfowl Club, a highly successful private club that also offers commercial hunts to nonmembers. To the south, Big Creek Ducks and Bucks is a storied commercial hunting operation thats been in business for years.

Property Highlights

Greentree Gun Club is 164.5 +/ acres of hardwood timber that has the ability to flood. To accomplish this, the eight-inch electric well located near the gated entrance pumps water directly into the main established shooting hole. During the coldest mornings in the duck woods, this function eliminates the need to break ice in the hole, or the need for a bulky ice eater by just turning the well on. There are three established shoot holes on this property with a road system throughout.

The land offered is 164.5 surveyed acres, including partial ownership of both drainage ditches that drain the woods.

Continuing Improvements

Greentree Gun Club is a secluded piece of land that has an entrance protected by gated fence. Last year a new water distribution pipe was put down, running from the well, underneath the ground, to the main shooting hole. Crops of millet, milo, and corn were also planted as food for waterfowl. As the property is currently still underdevelopment, several improvements are taking place this summer.

1. UTV compatible levee is being constructed on the east side of the property, thereby making the entire property easily accessible.

2. This new levee has been planted with oats to serve for both erosion control as well as a deer food plot/shooting lane.

3. The aging levee infrastructure on the, south and west sides will be shored up, stopping any minor leaks in those barriers.

4. Waterfowl food plots of millet have been planted for the upcoming hunting season.

5. A new flashboard riser with a 24 drain pipe has been installed on the southwest corner in addition to the current flashboard riser with two 10 drain pipes.
