Rio Grande Estates is a very large under-developed community. It is about 40 miles south of Albuquerque. Located near the community of Las Nutrias, the city of Belen is about 15 miles to the north and the county seat of Socorro is about 29 miles south.
You can RV or camp on your property as long as you like without restriction. "Socorro County does not have a zoning or permitting ordinance. At this time there are no County regulations or restrictions on the use of real property regarding the location and use of buildings/structures or use of land for trade, industry, residence, or control of population density." There are no subdivision or county restrictions, and there is no POA or Hoa. Property taxes are about per year.
At approximately 1 acre this property is well in excess of the generally accepted 0.75 acre minimum needed to build a residence with a conventional septic system. If you do want to build a residence, you can call the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department Construction Industries Division for New Mexico building requirements.
This approximately 1 acre property, Unit 14, Block 471, Lot 1, is about half a mile south of Highway 60 and 3/4 mile east of Highway 304. It is at the corner of two platted streets. You can leave them as they are, or you can choose to rent a skid steer and grade in any platted street easements. There are no utilities available to this property at this time, it is off grid.

Even in the more remote areas where the graded roads have faded, you can easily drive anywhere in a pickup or Suv. A regular car will be a case by case basis, you will have to try it and see.
