Pactolus Lake is located in Gilpin County, CO specifically Lincoln Hills and has a rich history that includes mining, a hotel, and ice skating Mining

The Pactolus Placer was a mining site that included buildings that were later repurposed for Camp Nizhoni, a hotel and staff lodging facility. The camp operated through the 1930S and 1940S, despite financial challenges from World War II and the Great Depression.

Ice skating

In 1961, the Colorado History Collection acquired a Pactolus Lake skating pass made of cardstock with a hole at the top for securing it to a person. The pass includes the lake's name and hours of operation.

Location

Centrally located south of Nederland and short drives to Blackhawk, Boulder and west Denver.

Directions to Land

Take highway 119 south from Nederland to highway 72 east and right turn at Pactolus Lake Road. From Arvada take highway 72 or Coal Creek Canyon road west to south Beaver Creek Road. The property is 40 minutes to Boulder and 40 minutes to the west side of Denver.
