The Main Cabin, plus Two Additional Cabins are located in Gogebic County, in the western part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This County is bordered by Ontonagon County, Iron County, and by the State of Wisconsin so it not a far drive Midwest sportspersons. Gogebic County got its name from the Chippewa Indian word a-go-je-bic, meaning “rocky shore” or “rocky dividing lake.” This area abounds in History. Native Americans gardened, fished, hunted and gathered in the area prior to European settlement. The Old Flambeau Trail in this County ran between their northern summer grounds on Lake Superior to their winter ground in Wisconsin. The first Europeans to explore this area in the1600s were Etienne Brulé, Përe René Menard, Fathers Jacques Marquette and Claude Allouez, with French voyageurs and fur traders. In those days a Hudson Bay's Trading Post and an American Fur Trading Post were also established posts in this County. Opportunities for outdoor recreation abound here. About 90 percent forested, there are 1,153 inland lakes in this County. Some of the larger lakes are Gogebic Lake, Cisco Chain of Lakes, and Lac Vieux Desert. It also has more than 30 miles of Lake Superior shoreline. There are over 1,200 miles of rivers and streams and more than 32 waterfalls. The Kakabika Falls are only a Half+ mile away for the Property Offered for sale - just before the road crosses the West Branch of the Ontonagon River. Look for the turnoff on the left side of the road. Down the path you will find a series of five “S” Turn falls as the river drops in elevation, that are numbered from North to South. The Southern Falls near the turn off is Number 5, and as you go North the Numbers decrease. The major rivers in the county are the Montreal River, the Black River, the Presque Isle River, the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River, and the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River. Many of their tributary streams and the smaller rivers and creeks offer some of the best trout fishing in the area primarily along the South Branch of the Paint River, the Tamarack River, and the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River. The Property is bordered be Ottawa National Forest Lands on the west, and by Corporate CFA Land for hunting, fishing, and trapping in season. The Stateline Trail, a Multiuse Trail passes by the cabin on US2 for year round motorized and non-motorized fun. The Main Cabin is a 20'x20' Original one room Log Cabin built in the 1900S, with a 24'x24' Addition that includes a Kitchen, Two Bedrooms, and Bath. This cabin is heated with a Wood space heater, and Lp Gas space heater. The Second Cabin is 14+x20+ feet in size, and Cabin Three is 14'+X12'x. There is a 24'+X30' Detached Garage for parking your vehicles, snowmobiles, and other equipment. Attached to it are a large covered wood storage area, and out house. A well Pump House protects the well equipment. Electricity, a Drilled Well, and Septic System were recent updates to the property. There is direct year-round access to this property off of Us-2. The property is wooded with American basswood, Balsam fir, Black spruce, Eastern hemlock, Green ash, Northern red oak, Quaking aspen, Sugar maple, Tamarac, White ash, White spruce and Yellow birch being the predominant species. Take a left onto US-141/M-28 and go 38 miles to the Village of Bruce Crossing. Take a left onto US-45 and go 18 miles to Highway US-2. Take a right and go 17+/- miles to property on the right. Look for Fire Sign (Marenisco Twp. E17906). The property is located between County Road 525 and Thomson Road.
