Paved Mosquito Ridge Road leads to the claim, one of the most beautiful drives in the US. Part of seasonal Peavine Creek is located on the claim.

Tahoe National Forest has a history of having the most registered gold mining claims of any NF in the US, one reason being the large number of seasonal creeks. These creeks allow for the panning of a running creek from winter run off of snow from the mountains, and then for the time when dry, digging in the creek bed from gold deposited from the run offs. This is the advantage for prospectors for a seasonal creek.

Your ownership is legally conveyed via a Quit Claim deed, and legally recorded with the BLM and Placer County. A Quit Claim deed is the required legal document per the BLM. Each year, on or before September 1st, you need to file a form with the Bureau of Land Management, along with The has been paid, and buyer needs to pay seller this if choose the payment plan. There are no taxes on mining claims in Placer County. You will need to have 2 names on your deed. You must be a current US citizen to own a mining claim in the US.

Take 80 east out of Sacramento. At city of Auburn, Exit 121, take Foresthill Road east,

Out of town of Foresthill. East on Mosqutio Ridge Road, 19.3 miles, then north on Peavine Ridge Road, which is Forestry Road 33, and go about 2 miles winding north to the claim. See maps provided. Then GPS coordinates as listed below.

The claim location monument has a 4 x 4 capped PVC post, posted 8 x 11 claim sign, and copy of Location Notice, as required by the State of California.

The high banking of the stream gulch on the claim is also a unique advantage for gold prospecting.

Gold always occurs in gravels in the metallic state and when so found has various physical characteristics. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.

Placer gold occurs on the claim as small grains derived from gossan formed by weathering, and oxidation of the gold, copper and iron rich veins. Gold also occurs as grains flakes and small nuggets derived from the erosion of mineralized fault zones on, and upstream from the claim.
